It’s not about painting perfectly

So many people tell me, “I’d love to paint, but I’m not good at it”. And every time, I smile gently and say, “Good doesn’t matter. Feeling does.”

In a world obsessed with results, we forget that the act of painting is in itself a form of healing. You don’t need to make something “beautiful” in the traditional sense. You just need to show up—with your brush, your colours, and your truth.

The moment the brush touches water

There’s something sacred about mixing colour with water. Watching the pigment dissolve, shift, flow. It’s like watching your emotions soften. That’s why I believe watercolour is one of the most honest ways to reconnect with ourselves.

It doesn’t demand precision. In fact, it resists it. Watercolour invites us to surrender control, to follow the movement, to let go.

And isn’t that what we need most when we’re feeling overwhelmed or disconnected?

Art as a mirror for your inner world

When we paint without fear of mistakes, we give space to emotions that don’t yet have words. A soft stroke of blue can speak of sadness. A splash of ochre may hold hope. There’s no wrong way to paint when you’re painting what you feel.

That’s why in my workshops and personal practice, I always remind people: you’re not here to impress anyone. You’re here to reconnect—with yourself, with your emotions, and with the beauty of simply being present.

What if you gave yourself permission?

You don’t need the talent to start. You don’t need fancy supplies. All you need is a piece of paper, a bit of colour, and a few minutes of quiet.

So what if today, you allowed yourself to create freely? What if you let go of “good” or “bad” and just asked: what am I feeling right now… and how could I paint it?

You might be surprised by what comes through.

With love and brushstrokes,
Diana
